A regular meeting of the Homestead Township Board was called to order at7:00 p.m., by Chair, Cathy Demitroff.

Present by Roll Call: Cathy Demitroff, Shelley Rosa, Mary Geetings, CarolMoore, and Matt Miller

Also present: Bob Rosa, Frank Walterhouse, Andy Loveland, Ken Gokey,Craig Baker, Butch Garber, Rick Frederick Craig Johnson, Sharry Taylor, BevHolbrook, Bill Hutchins, Shari Coykendal, Dan Moore, Mr. Zirkel, Jeri andMike Thompson, Jim Demitroff, and Shane Gonyon.

The entire audience participated in the Pledge of Allegiance.

APPROVE AGENDA: Motion by Rosa to approve the agenda with additions, to include Concession Stand under Public In Put, Roof for Homestead Cemeteryand Zoning Money under new business. Support Miller with additions. AllAyes. Motion Carried.

APPROVAL OF THE APRIL 4th MINUTES:

Motion by Moore to accept the May 2, minutes as presented. Support Miller.All Ayes. Motion Carried.

REPORTS: - Treasurer's: Motion by Miller to accept the Treasurer's Reportas presented. Support Moore . All Ayes. Motion Carried.

Motion by Miller to transfer Homestead Twp's portion / percentage fromGeneral Fund into the Joint Planning Account. Support Rosa . All Ayes.Motion Carried.

Zoning Administrator's: Motion by Moore to accept the ZoningAdministrator's, report as presented. Support Rosa . All Ayes. MotionCarried.

Supervisor's, JPC, and Park Report: Motion by Rosa to accept theSupervisor's, JPC, and the Park Report as presented. Support Miller. AllAyes. Motion Carried.

APPROVAL OF BILLS: General - Motion by Moore to pay the General FundBills. Support Miller. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.

Fire Mileage - Motion by Moore to pay the Fire Department Bills. SupportMiller. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.

Park and Rec Bills - Motion by Moore to pay the Park and Rec Bills.Support Miller. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.

JPC Bills - Motion by Miller Support Moore to pay the JPC bill. Roll Call.All Ayes. Motion Carried.

CORRESPONDENCE: Snowmobile Patrol Winter of 2010/11, - thank you fromRory Heckman. Annual Postal Food Drive - thank you from Jeffie LynchJones. Engineer Regulatory Program.

PUBLIC IN PUT: None.

Concession Stand - Ken Gokey submitted his expenses since operating theconcession stand. He has painted the floor, put a screen across the frontof the concession stand window, that was requested by the health inspector,and has ordered a thermal control element for the pop corn machine whichneeds to be replaced. Motion by Rosa to reimburse Ken Gokey in the amountof $73.90 for his expenses. Support Miller. Roll Call. All Ayes. MotionCarried.

Park Advisory Committee - Bob Rosa reported that 2 motions were made by thePark Advisory Committee - To advertise for engineer bids to fix the erosionproblem at the park, and second to advise the board to keep the spill wayscleaned from gravel.

Green Team Recommendations - Andy Loveland presented the Green Team'sRecommendations:

Electric - Glen Lake Electric - LED Lights 30 Watts for$2,684.00

Heating and Cooling - LD Heating$14,320.00

Windows - Portland Building (without window covering)$ 2,820.25

Hall Insulation - Homestead Construction$ 8,350.00

Motion by Rosa to accept the Green Team's Recommendations on everything,except window coverings. Support Moore . Roll Call. All Ayes. MotionCarried.

NEW BUSINESS: Fire Dept HB Improvement Fund Budget - This had already beenapproved. Cathy to verify with auditor.

Summer Lunch Program - Motion by Rosa to allow the summer lunch programthe use of the Twp Hall starting June 13, until the end of August. SupportMiller. All Ayes. Motion Carried.

Homestead Cemetery Shed Roof - The roof on the shed at Homestead Cemetery ,and the air vents on both buildings at the cemeteries need repairs. Motionby Rosa to run an ad in the paper for bids to repair the roof at Homesteadand the air vents on each building at Homestead and Champion Hillcemeteries. Support Miller. All Ayes. Motion Carried.

OLD BUSINSS: Park Erosion - Motion by Moore to get bids from an engineer tocorrect the erosion in the park, and to place ads in the Benzie Patriot, andthe Record Eagle (Sunday's paper only) for 2 weeks. Bids to be opened atthe July meeting. Support Rosa . All Ayes. Motion Carried.

Spill Ways - Should we run an ad to clean out the spill ways? Why can'tthe spill ways be cleaned out when the engineering / landscaping takesplace? There will be no ad placed in the paper for engineer bids. Weneed to have Specs and drawings before we place ads in the papers.

Medical First Responders - Motion by Rosa to allow the Fire Dept MedicalFirst Responders to volunteer their time with monthly reports submitted tothe board for 1 full year. Support Moore . All Ayes. Motion Carried.

Fire Dept - 10 Runs for the month.

DJ Electrical Services. LLC - A quote was submitted from DJ ElectricalServices to replace a 1ight in the park for the amount of $580.00. If theballast is not bad, the cost would be $460.00.

Motion by Rosa to hire DJ Electrical to change the light in the park.Support Miller. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.

Fire Mileage - Permission was granted to Frank Walterhouse to submit arenewal to the county for the Fire Mileage.

PUBLIC IN PUT: Sharry Taylor - Cinder Road . If you do not have firstresponders, than your insurance would be cheaper, what is the increase onyour insurance with Medical First Responders?

Bob Rosa - Carol I appreciate what you do and how you look out for theresidents and tax payer of Homestead Township, but after seeing the responseour Fire Department gave to the accident here on US 31, I feel the MFR's area good thing for our township.

Homestead Township Fire Department - Mutual Aid Agreement Letter ofUnderstanding between the Homestead Township Fire Department and BenzieCounty EMS . Motion by Miller. Support Rosa to adopt the Homestead TownshipFire Department, Mutual Aid Agreement / Letter of Understanding between theHomestead Township Fire Department and Benzie County EMS . All Ayes. MotionCarried.

Motion by Rosa to adopt the toning out of Station 6 Rescue MFR's along withBenzie EMS for r Homestead and Platte Township 's. Support Miller. AllAyes. Motion Carried.
