A regular meeting of the Homestead Township Board was called to order at 7:00 p.m., by Chair, Cathy Demitroff.
Present by Roll Call: Cathy Demitroff, Shelley Rosa, Mary Geetings, Carol Moore and Matt Miller.
Also present: Bob Rosa, Frank Walterhouse, Todd Warren, Cindra Moore, Dan Moore and Pete Moore
The entire audience participated in the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVE AGENDA:
Motion by Rosa to approve the agenda with the following additions: L-4029 Report, Email Domain, Music in the Park, Twp Hall Rental, Park Improvements. Support Moore with additions. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
APPROVAL OF THE APRIL 5th MINUTES:
Motion by Rosa to approve the May 3rd minutes as presented. Support Miller. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
REPORTS: - Treasurer's - Motion by Moore to accept the Treasurer's Report as presented. Support Miller. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Clerk's: Motion by Rosa to accept the Clerk's Reports as presented. Support Moore. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Zoning, JPC and Supervisor's Reports - Motion by Rosa to accept the Zoning, JPC and Supervisor's reports as presented. Support Miller. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
APPROVAL OF BILLS:
General- Motion by Miller to pay the General Fund Bills. Support Moore. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Fire Mileage - Motion by Miller to pay the Fire Department Bills. Support Moore. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Park and Rec - Motion by Rosa to pay the Park and Rec Bills. Support Moore. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
CORRESPONDENCE:

PUBLIC IN PUT:
Firemen, Tim Markey and Butch Garber modeled the new fire clothing that was recently purchased for the Fire Department.
Cindra Moore - Covey Road - Whoever is mowing Champion Hill Cemetery is cutting the lawn way too low. There were also some momentums that I had placed on my mom's grave that were damaged.
NEW BUSINESS:
Township Building New Roof - Motion by Rosa to run an ad in the paper for a bid on either a Fiberglass, or Metal Roof for the Township Hall Building. All bids should be received in by June 30th. They will be presented to the board at the July 5th meeting, and the bids will be awarded at the August 2nd meeting. Support Geetings. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Tent Worms- Carol presented all the information she gathered on the tent worms. The cost to have the whole township sprayed next year would be approximately $384,000. The information will be kept available at the township hall to pass onto any resident that is interested in having their property sprayed. Cathy will research the possibility of having it placed on the Township's Website.
General Appropriations Act - Motion by Rosa to adopt the General Appropriations Act presented to the board. Support Moore. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Audit Notes - Motion by Rosa. Support Miller to accept the Audit Notes that were presented to the Board. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
L-4029 - Motion by Miller to approve the L-4029 that was presented to the board. Support Moore. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
E-Mail Domain - Motion by Geetings to have Denny from Accucomp Computers to install and set up the email address for Homestead Twp. The annual fee will be $25.00, and the monthly cost for email service and anti-spam filtering will be $6.75. Support Rosa. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Music in the Park - Motion by Moore to grant permission to the Benzie Community Band to hold a free concert on the big ball field on Wednesday, July 14. Support Miller. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
OLD BUSINESS:
Disposal of Township Property - Outhouses in the Park. - Motion by Moore to charge Cathy Demitroff $6.00 to purchase the 6 outhouses from the
park. Support Rosa. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Old Fireman's Clothing - Motion by Geetings to authorize the Fire Department to throw away 5 pants and 5 coats, that were replaced by the new fire gear recently purchased. 19 pants valued at $20.00 each and 15 coats valued at $25.00 each will be kept and used by the firemen that are in training and not yet certified. Support Rosa. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Fire Department - 12 runs for the month of May - 35 runs to date.
The Fire Department wants to apply for a grant for 8 to 10 Scott Air Packs, each cost around $3,000. The max amount the grant would offer would be $7,500.
Motion by Rosa to allow the Fire Department to apply for a 2% Grant from the GT Band of Indians for Scott Air Packs. Support Moore. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Hall Rental Agreement - Motion by Demitroff to adopt the Hall Rental Contract presented to the board with amendments. To add township in the heading, and to add the word rental in the last line of the contract. Support Miller. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Park Improvement - Sign for the Skate Park - Motion by Rosa to get bids for the Skate Park sign. Support Miller. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Samples for the appreciation plaques for the bathroom and the skate park will be presented at the July meeting.
Split Rail Fence - Motion by Rosa to order 6 - 10ft section of split rail fence to place around the septic field at the park. Support Geetings. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Any other business to come before the board.
Concession Stand - The Health Department visited the concession stand at the ball park and has threatened to write the township up for the refrigerator not being cold enough. Shannon Purchase will swap the refrigerator from the township hall.
Batting Cages - One is working, one is not. A key will be given to the office, so the money can be retrieved from the cages.
Road Repairs - Request for road repairs need to be presented to the Road Commission in January and February, it will be placed on the Time Table.
