Old Business :
Tribal Grant application . Township Supervisor Demitroff noted that we had not heard from the Tribe regarding our previous application in June 2008.
Skatepark: Warren noted that we had received letters from the Tony Hawk Foundation regarding how to improve our application and the design of the skatepark. Rosa noted that we should keep this project a priority because some of the skaters and their parents may not be around for support if the process takes too long and the current skaters loose interest. Rosa also noted that the price of asphalt may be coming down.
Playground: Rokicki noted that the Eagles will sponsor a 50/50 drawing for park improvements. He also had made contact with some elected officials to seek other grant funding. .
New Business:
Restroom Project: Laing suggested that we should look into new estimates for the restrooms and other projects. She said with the tight economy there may be some better deals available. She also suggested we see if there is a way to collect more from the users of the park.(i.e. the baseball leagues). Rosa also noted that lower prices could be found and offered to do some of the excavating at cost.
Crossman suggested that we look at a more basic design. One that we could get started on with the money the Township already has. He also suggested we see if the Township has some money to add to the project. Rokicki offered to look into this design and to speak with his son who may be able to provide us with some drawing.
Rosa also suggested we look into some portajohns to use until new restrooms are built. Supervisor Demitroff said she would look into the cost for portajohns.
Public Input: Supervisor Demitroff stated that she is concerned that a park maintenance person may not provide enough supervision of the park.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:20pm.
The next meeting of the Homestead Township Parks and Recreation Committee will be March 19th, 2009 at 6:00pm
Respectfully submitted by
Todd Warren
