Present: Cathy Demitroff, Mary Geetings, Zelda Gray B Absent: Shelley Rosa, Matt Miller.
Also present: Cathy Ralston, Roger Chorley, Cindy Chorley, Ingamar Johansson, Jerry Solanics, Kyle Axtell, Cyndra Moore, and Frank Walterhouse
The entire audience participated in the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of the January meeting were not approved pending revisiting the tape on Public Input brought forth by Terry Money.
TREASURER=S REPORT: Motion Demitroff to accept the Treasurer=s Report as presented. Support Gray. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
CLERK=S REPORT: Motion Gray, support Demitroff to accept the Clerk=s Reports as presented. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
APPROVAL OF BILLS:
General - Motion Geetings, support Gray to pay all the General Bills. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Fire: Motion Demitroff, support Geetings to pay all Fire Fund Bills. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
CORRESPONDENCES: Two CPA firms have submitted their request for our business. Their request will be place on file for future reference.
PUBLIC IN-PUT: Cyndra Moore fees the township should consider going to what is called a Natural Cemetery, when and if a new cemetery is needed.
NORTHWEST MI. COOP WEED MNG: Jerry Solanics distributed a brochure and educated the Board and audience on the Garlic Mustard.
PLATTE RIVER WATER SHED MNG: On behalf of Kyle Axtell, Cathy Demitroff informed the board that the Water Shed in seeking a letter of support to improve our Water Shed Mng. Plan. Motion by Demitroff to send a letter of support to improve our Water Shed Mng Plan. Support Geetings. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
OLD BUSINESS:
Joint Planning: Zelda Gray reported that the planning is coming along nicely.
Funding Account: Motion by Zelda to move $2,000.00 dollars from the Planning Department Budget (General Fund) into a Joint Fund with Inland Township to cover cost per meeting and expenses. Support Demitroff. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Pancake Breakfast: The Fire Dept would like to use the Twp Hall on March 4, 11, 18, and the 25th for their pancake breakfast fund raiser. Motion by Demitroff to allow the Fire Dept to use the Twp Hall for their annual pancake breakfast fund raiser for 4 Sundays in March. Support Gray. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Fire Department Report: A report was distributed regarding the runs that were made in Homestead Twp for 2006.
Door Lettering: Motion Gray to allow 24" x 14 red lettering on the 2 garage doors to the fire barn from da Designs for the cost of $330.00. Support Demitroff. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Tires for 1976 Ford F 600 V8: Four bids were submitted. Motion by Demitroff to award the bid to Bud=s in Honor for tires for the 1976 Ford Truck. Discussion followed. Motion Rescinded. Motion by Geetings to accept Northern Auto=s bid for $2,844.54 for tires on the 1976 Ford F 600 V8. Support Demitroff. Roll Call. Gray Abstain. Geetings Yes, Demitroff Yes. Motion Carried.
Fire Contracts Inland and Platte Twp: - Motion by Demitroff to adopt the mileage brought forth from the Equalization Dept, for the April 1, 2007/2008 fire contracts. Support Gray. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried. Motion by Demitroff to approve and send out the Fire Contract to Inland and Platte Twp respectively. Support Geetings. All Ayes. Motion Carried.

NEW BUSINESS:

Benzie Transportation Authority: Sue Miller notices a work bench that was sitting outside at our rental, and wants to know if the Benzie Transportation Authority could have it. Motion by Demitroff to donate the work bench to the Benzie Transportation Authority after she talks to the renter. Support Gray. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Coho Festival Pancake Breakfast: Motion by Gray to allow the Coho Festival Committee to use the Township hall on February 25, for a pancake benefit breakfast. Support Demitroff. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
PUBLIC IN-PUT:
Ingamar Johansson wonders why we are forming a Joint Committee with Inland Twp. He feels that staying with the County is a better decision. Being a larger entity is better for all involved. Would Homestead and Inland Twp=s be able to afford the large cost if they were sued? He would hope that we would lean on policy and not personality.
