The entire audience participated in the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVE AGENDA: Agenda approved as presented.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Motion by Rosa to accept the June 5th minutes as presented. Support Gray. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
TREASURER=S REPORT: Motion by Geetings to accept the Treasurer=s Report as presented. Support Miller. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
CLERK=S REPORT: Motion by Miller, to accept the Clerk=s Reports as presented. Support Rosa. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
APPROVAL OF BILLS: General Fund - Motion by Rosa to pay all the General Fund Bills. Support Gray. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Fire Millage - Motion by Gray to pay all the Fire Millage Bills. Support Miller. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Park and Rec Bills: Motion by Miller to pay all the Park and Rec Bills. Support Geetings. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
CORRESPONDENCES: Benzie Food Partners, Benzie Bus, Weldon Twp., Benzie Co. Road Commission - Millage Update, Apology letter from Matthew and Nolan
PUBLIC IN-PUT - Cyndra Moore would like the Twp Board to consider and research a Natural Cemetery for the future of Homestead Twp., before we buy more land.
NEW BUSINESS:
Cemetery Ordinance - Motion by Geetings to adjust Section 6 "Markers or Memorials" B. To include upon a suitable foundation, it is recommended that the Foundation be 4 inches thick and 6 inches around the base of the stone.
Under >C@, Section 6 to state that the stone must be placed at either the head or the feet of the burial site.
Benzie Co. Road Commission Millage Resolution - Motion by Rosa, support Gray to adopt the County Wide Local Road Preservation Millage Resolution. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Clean-Up Day - The annual clean-up day for 2008 will be September 20, 2008. This was based on the December newsletter that went out to the Resident of Homestead Twp. Five people responded stating they wanted clean up day in the fall.
Help in the Park - Frank needs someone to help with the weed wacking. He feels the job will take a person 14 hours to do all of it. Motion Rosa to pay Matt Miller $100.00 (One Hundred Dollars) to weed wack the park. Roll Call. Demitroff - Yes, Gray - Yes, Rosa - Yes, Geetings - Yes, Miller Abstain. Thanks Matt!!
OLD BUSINESS:
Park Contract - A contract from Frank Walterhouse was presented to the board, based on last months motion to accept. Motion by Geetings to approve the contract between Frank Walterhouse and Homestead Park and Rec. Concession Stand. Support Miller. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Joint Planning - Working on maps presently. Request from the board permission to pay a portion of the contract from Roger Williams in the amount of $2,192.16. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Cemetery Sign: 2 bids were presented. daDesigns for the cost of $813.00 (Eight Hundred Thirteen), and one from A+ for 386.00 (Three Hundred Eighty Six). Motion by Gray to Accept A+ bid, if they can do the signs in Aluminum Core and if it is under $813.00 dollars. Support Rosa. Roll Call. All Ayes. Motion Carried.
Fire Department - Five runs in June. Assisted the Sheriffs Department and the Animal Control on the clean up on Brownell Road.
Dumpster - The dumpster may be here tomorrow. Cost is $55.00 a month for July, August and Sept., after that the cost will be $2.00 per bag on Tuesday=s.
PUBLIC IN PUT - None
Any Other Business to come before the board - The brine placed on the dirt roads this summer is gone. Need to request a heavier brine next year.
There is a public forum at the county building July 11, regarding the county borrowing money to make improvements at the Government Center.
